Eenie, meenie, miney, moe – Every day we are faced with having to make choices. How do you make yours?
Just when we think we have everything under control, things change, and you have to make smart choices. And to help you be prepared, I’m going to add another tool to your EMPOWERMENT toolbox!
You can make the choice to be involved in your future by using Tool #2– VISUALIZATION. Yes, that’s right, looking into the future and picturing your life just how you would like it to be. And I’m talking details.
One of the best ways to visualize is to write down what you see in your mind’s eye. Here’s how to do it:
STEP ONE: EVERY NIGHT
Every night before you go to sleep, take time to write a few sentences describing how you want your life to be. It is your private journal, so be honest with yourself and be specific. This can include sentences like, “I have more than enough money to pay my bills.” “I’m a successful chef with a gourmet restaurant.” “I give interesting presentations, and people ask my opinion.” “I’m a perfect weight and look really good in my clothes.” (You are ‘inviting in’ positive energy and it will put a smile on your face as you go to sleep.)
STEP TWO: EVERY MORNING
Every morning, turn to a fresh page and write down things you feel you must clear out of your mind. You can include thoughts like, “I don’t feel like getting up today.” “I don’t like the people at work.” “I think I look fat.” After you’ve released this negative energy, tear out the page and throw it away. That way even though you purged your mind of negative thoughts, the journal remains a positive visualization of your future.
- Being clear to yourself about the life you really want directs your thoughts and energies towards those goals.
- Writing your thoughts down gives you added focus.
- The more you think about that life, the more it becomes a reality. You begin to believe that you can make it happen; you will feel EMPOWERED.
- And as an extra bonus, visualizing your success and fulfillment will increase your motivation and boost your confidence.
So, enough with the eenie, meenie… Look in your toolbox and start using VISUALIZATION on your road to Empowering yourself.
